according to the manual, my early 1996 mini cabriolet should have a trottle switch on the pedal. i guess this is to tell the ECU to cut the fuel off on over run. mine has not gone one and never had one by the look of it. i did hear the later spi minis did not have this but how dos the ECU know when i have took my foot off the pedal?

only the very early spis had the switch, roughly j/k reg (92 ish)

by 1996 it was long gone, they had moved onto the single plug ecus by then. there is a throttle position sensor on the injection unit (same on early and late) that tells the ecu how wide the throttle is
