rocker choices
Discussion
okay guys, I could do with some help in making a decision in what type of rockers to put in my griff 500, ally or steel?
I`ve spoken to several specialists this morning, some recomend the ally ones some say steel, but overall the biased seems to be towards the aluminium ones.
the experts have a hell of a lot more knowledge on this than I ever will, so I`ll probably get the aluminium ones but would appreciate anyones input, experiences on this one.

The steel pads in my ally ones broke up, is this your reason for change, I had the full set replaced 20,000 miles ago with what I belive were the same standard Griff parts, ally with steel pads by TMS as was. Still no rattles….
Cheers,
Simon.

Ive surrendered the credit card
and ordered up a cam kit, with new ally rockers and adjustable push rods, had so many choices in front of me it was getting really confusing, but decided to go with Chris`s advice from rpi engineering, top man, managed to get hold of him on the phone late saturday morning when I discovered the problem, then he phones me from his home late in the afternoon to check on my progress with stripping the engine down, lots of invaluable advice, so I think he deserves my custom for that reason alone.
hope to get things back together in the next couple of weeks.

its a piper 285 cam, just thought that the adjustable push rods will give better individual adjustment rather than working to averages with the shims.
You have to open the pushrod holes out to fit them, and they're heavier and more flexible than solid pushrods. I don't think they're a good idea unless you're running solid lifters.
to late, they are on their way!
but they are sending out a set that fit in the holes without any drilling out, so would appreciate some advice peter,
why do you ask about solid lifters, the pushrod adjustment only saves shims under the rockers?
when you say they are more flexible, have you had any bad experiences with these?
the supplier, expresses no concerns with fitting these at all, would appreciate your input.
thanks, clive.
