New or as new chassis

Are all the chim chassis the same, that is could I use one from a 5.0 for my 4.0 and are all the years the same?
Yes,anything after 96 Chim or Griff, when they went over to the BTR diff mounts, can't remember when the Chim 4 and 4.5's went over to the bigger brakes but you probably won't be needing them anyway.
well it would be easy to straighten the chassis if TVR released the official specification you need to enter into the "straightener machine".
Anyway, I havent removed the body yet to take a look but i´m thinking something must be wrong because the new wishbones (that needed replacing) would not fit properly on the chassis after the crash.

I thought like another fellow isolated islander, you were a resourcefull lot..
We never had specs for straightning TVR chassis's,get it on an alignment machine first, its the suspension pick up points that need to be worked out for square and true, then youv'e still got some play if its out by a mill or two.

That actually sounds like a great idea.......it might turn out to be very minor distortion thats not too hard to fix.
The rust on the outriggers is just surface rust so that will not be too hard to fix.
Suppose i´ll need to make friends with one of the off road guys over here that you see on eurosport (those things are built like the tvr´s)
and get them to help me fix the chassis, next aq boatbuilder for the bodywork.....whewwww this is going to cost some serious beer

Well that is my problem!!!
I own the only TVR in Iceland so finding a garage to fix it is a headache and thats why I thought it
might be easier to simply buy another chassis if its not to expensive.
I there no place that can supply a reconditioned chassis that has been blasted etc.

Tape measure, square, straight edge, electric hacksaw, tube, welder, and a little maths,if you don't have that in Iceland I can supply you with a refurbished chassis on an exchange basis,I should'nt think shipping would be to much....

Hehe, I´ll need to wipe the dust off those old trigenometry books then
But seriously, is it really that simple when I get the chassis on a jig? Do I just measure the degrees on the opposite side and copy or if a tube is damaged, just cut the damaged bit off and replace with a similar tube??
Like I said, assumming you repaired the damaged wishbone pick up on the chassis, get it on the allignment machine first, you may find there is nothing wrong with it.
If there is damage to the chassis you will need to take the body off and either staighten or replace tubeing.
To give you example we have a Griff here that was T boned at 60 kph,the outrigger was bent 60 mm,front suspension totaly wiped out.We replaced the front wishbones, hub, tierod, ball joints ,shock, etc, ran the car down to our local tyre man and checked and tweeked the geometery, nothing wrong with it.We then took the body off,put the chassis in a jig and replaced damaged sections.
The wishbones absorb a whole lot of impact before generating that into the chassis, your bottom chassis pick up mount has sustained probably more damage because the wishbone is tubualar and won't fold up like the other U shape ones.

Like I said, Icebear, I think your English is excellent for an Icelander! If fact it is much bettter than a lot of native Enlish speaker (& writers!).
Ignore him, he's just being ignorant.
Where in Iceland are you?

I´m from Reykjavik.
Where did you stay and were you here for a holiday or on business?
Reykjavik is actually very different from what people perceive it to be, very cosmopolitan and trendy these days with fantastic restaurants and great nightlife.
But Incredibly EXPENSIVE, I have only been to 2 places that were more expensive, Oslo and Tokyo.
A lot of Europeans seem to think we all live in igloos and Americans think we are one of their states
