OK, I've removed the old battery (quite pleased with myself).

Now, need to src a replacement. I've found the following battery (size looks about right), and apparently is the right battery for a Chimaera, but what do you guys/girls reckon? If you think its no good where could I get a replacement from?

Cheers.

Dav, Numax batteries are just about the cheapest battery you can buy. Whereabouts are you in the South West? I supply Varta batteries and would be more than happy to do you a deal if it helps you out.

By all means email me via my profile.

Not sure about your car but my 2000 "X" came with an "072" battery from the factory.
I would go to any decent local motor factors for it, at least you will have somewhere to go back to if it packs up. The make of a battery does not mean a lot today, several makes come from the same factory.

Only on the budget end of the market.
A mate of mine has been supplying batteries to the motor industry for 30 odd years.
He buys them before the labels go on, he would beg to differ

ribol,if there all the same battery then why bother changing the case construction, just change labels.its the cheap ones that go this route, you get what you pay for still stands.

I didn't say they were all the same, what I said is that several makes come from the same factory.
There are lots of cons in the battery game, eg, one manufacturer makes only an 075 battery, the same battery is sold as an 065 and an 075 when it gets further down the supply chain.

I can't fault the Varta type 96 reverse, this just fitted the battery box & was the heaviest duty battery available.

OK, got the new battery in and works like a treat. In the end, quite an easy job (even for someone non mechanically minded like me). Thanks 'Bomber Denton' and all for your help and advice!
