OK so it's time for a software refresh. What files do I need to back up in Outlook Express to keep my messages and address book?

Cheers

To back up all e-mails, make sure you have copies of the following:

C:documents and settingsusernamelocal settingsapplication dataidentities{randomnumbers}microsoftoutlook express

This folder should contain lots of .dbx files (one for each folder in outlook express)

back all these up, then restore them to the same location once you've refreshed your PC

it appears that PH doesn't put the backslashes in, if you can't figure the string out, let me know

If you have your e-mail system set up to autocomplete e-mail addresses (ie: you type the first couple of letters and the rest of the address appears)
you'll need to save a file with an ending of .nk2 (search for .nk2 files, only 1 will appear)

2 ways

1) File, export, address book
2) search for .wab files, back them up

If you are using Windows XP the best way of doing this is using the Files and settings transfer wizard. Start/Programs/Accecories/System Tools/Files and settings transfer wizard.
