Throttle Cable...
Discussion
Hi all,
Have had the Chim about a month now and the fact that I cant heel and toe is getting a little annoying. The Throttle pedal seems to be set back by an inch or two and I understand that this is due to a stretched cable... I think i've found the adjuster next the the plenum chamber in the engine bay but am unsure whether I have a small amount of adjustment or a large amount (has someone already tightened it..?). There is about a centimeter of thread showing to the offside of the nut. I have a feeling this means I am going to need a new cable! Is this correct? If so, where is the cheapest place to get one (they seem to be rather pricey!), and are they easy to install?
Thanks,
Nick

IIRC, there is a simple pedal 'stop' in the footwell for setting the resting height of the pedal.
But I would advise caution when adjusting the cable, after all, if you have it too tight, you risk straining the cable when on full throttle, which could eventually snap the cable.
I adjusted mine (after it had broken) so that when the pedal is flat on the floor, it was not against the end stop at the plenum end.
You could always adjust the brake pedal (far easier to do) - release the lock nut at the rear of the pedal, adjust to suit requirements...tighten nut again.

Sure you can't adjust the brake/clutch pedals to provide better heights in relation to the fixed accelerator pedal position? If the throttle cable is stretched replace it - they have a habit of parting company in the dark on the outside lane of a motorway when it's raining
Actually I suspect the cable isn't stretched it's just that the brake and clutch pedals have been adjusted leaving the accelerator pedal out of kilter.
Actually I suspect the cable isn't stretched it's just that the brake and clutch pedals have been adjusted leaving the accelerator pedal out of kilter. You can't really judge whether the cable has stretched by the height of the pedal. Due to the geometry of the pedal, a small change to the adjuster at the throttle makes a big difference to the height of the pedal. If you change it and have a throttle stop, you would need to adjust the height of the throttle stop accordingly.
Be wary of adjusting the throttle pedal too high, because this can make the cable kink in the rest position which will soon knacker the cable.

hmmm... Well the reason I thought it was streched is that there is some play in the pedal, I can bring it forward by around an inch and it feels slack. I guess i could move the other two though, how does the clutch move? (ive noticed there is some play in this pedal as well but it appears to be coming from behind the gromit at the back, any idea what this could be?)

That's all normal.
