sounds too good to be true.

They cant keep going down in value otherwise a teenager barely out of nappies and a new license will be able to afford one!. eek

They wouldn't be able to afford the insurance though.

Interesting though, I guess this leaves the VXR500 without customers as it would be a LOT cheaper to pick one of these up and then slap a supercharger on eek

I just said their was no customers for the VXR500 because the VXRs were so cheap.

I was right in a way, just that there is a different reason for nobody buying them! silly

Still plenty of people who have test drives booked with a view to ordering!! Reveiwing options with the guys at Vauxhall at the moment to try for a few more.

Maybe they are just clearing the tubes for the new 07 SS-V and HSV's

Which reminds me I saw on an Oz site a statement saying the SS-V will be sent here...

We will see.. Cool.

I'm convinced other than badge snobbery, the reason for these giveaway prices is that when it was announced that the Monaro was ceasing production Vauxhall were nowhere near quick enough or loud enough to get word out that there was still a plentiful supply available to the end of the year.Nearly everyone I've spoke to ( other than from this forum)when the Monaro has been mentioned, were convinced there were none available and hence probably stopped asking. Frankly it looks a bit of a shambles, and if I was an owner having paid near to £37K a year ago I would be seriously pissed off. Can't imagine what prospective purchasers from other marques of the 4 door next year will be thinking.

depreciation is a bad word. More than many on here I stretched my budget to buy my Monaro 2nd hand last August and will be paying for it for best part of another 4 years. Its probably worth a lot less than I still owe on it. I however dont find the falling prices that big a deal as I bought the car to keep and fiddle with for years to come. Depreciation only becomes an issue if you (a)only bought the car to play with for a year or two or (b)if you have to sell due to change in circumstances.

If you are one of the people in option (a) then although the % loss is high would you really have lost any less had you gone bought a BMW for example? As soon as you drive off the forecourt 99% of cars lose thousands in value. Fact of car ownership and if you want to buy a new car you must expect to take a hit, otherwise buy a car thats a year old and avoid the pain of that first year loss.

We've just got to get over the fact that a lucky few (and perhaps caspy could say how many are available) will get a stonking deal on buying a new VXR as Vauxhall clear the last of their stock. Wonder if there will be a similiar deal on CV8's as that could make the new price of one of them around the same as list price for a decent spec Astra!! That would almost certainly then push 2nd hand price of an 04 CV8 to around the 10k mark.

Mine was on 05 when I bought it in Jan. of this year, it's a VXR 6l, which I bought for £26k, if I had waited till now I could of got a brand spanking new one for the same money??

So where would I stand now trading it in for a new one? screwed I guess?? And I assume future trade in values are effected too?

Still, I love my car, and don't really care, i am hoping the price drop doesn't open it up to oiks I am hoping the car remains a secret to those in the know.. Compared to the depreciation I got on my TVR this is pennies
