hi

i have a corsa b R reg 1.4i and its giving me some trouble, it absolutely refuses to go into any gear and i really have to put some force into it to get it in. also, the clutch is biting still even when i have it fully depressed so if i have it in first gear with the clutch down, the car still moves forward very very slowly.

also ive noticed over the last few weeks, the biting point is getting lower and lower.

how can i fix this? does it just need a clutch adjustment?

Your clutch is f*cked and needs replacing.

Good advice! rolleyes

You may actually find its only the cable just needs a bit of adjustment.

The much maligned Haynes Manual will help you out on this one.

A failing clutch is more likely to present as clutch slipping problems rather than failing to release/dragging. Far more likely to be the cable fraying and stretching or some cables have an automatic adjuster mid way along the cable which could be failing or jammed.
If the cable has manual adjustment I would not bother trying to adjust it as your report of progressive degradation indicates something other than a minor adjustment required.

In my experience more often than not on the corsa the bearing goes through the clutch cover, hence the clutch does not clear and drags.
Cables on corsa's dont usually give a problem.
