Does anyone know how to get Excel to display these?

I want to type 0300 into a cell, but Excel keeps taking off the first zero when I move to the next cell.

I am sure it must be in the 'format cells' menu but can't find the correct option.

Thanks!

try typing a ' before the leading zero so '0300 in your example. it shouldn't display the ' in the cell but should stop excel removig the zero.

Change the format to custom and type '0000' so that it knows to use a minimum of 4 characters.

Or just format the cell/range as text...

Only problem with that is you get loads of little green triangles asking if you want to keep it as text or convert to a number
