Hi All

I've got to get 2 new tyres for the back of my boxster. They're 265/35/19 z rated. My OPC want to charge me £650 to replace them with Michelins. (same as current)

I've looked online and have found various companies that will come out and fit the same tryres for just under £500 which is a worthwile saving. Just wondering if anyone has some recomondations on different tyres as I will be putting this car on the track in the new year.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Ryan

I use the Michelins (Pilot Sport). Brilliant tyre. Very hard wearing. Good in the wet, good in the dry. I track my car regularly and the tyres hold up very well considering.

If you will not use the car on road or have a second set of wheels you could consider going with a "road legal trackday tyre". Michelin do a well regarded "Pilot Sport Cup" tyre or you could try Toyo R888s. Be warned - these tyres are "useless" if there is standing water. I haven't yet gone down this path myself as the car serves dual purposes to me and I don't want a second set of wheels lying around much...

I use the car most days and it will probably be on track once every 2 months. I've found these:

www.bestbuytyres.co.uk/SearchPage.aspx?Width=265&Profile=35&Diameter=19&Speed=W/Y/Z&Brand=Any&&Page=1

which are pretty much all my options.

Out of interest what milage have you got out of a set with you tracking the car as well? Mines just on 14k now and they need doing.

Thanks

Errrm...my car is used on highdays and holidays. Does about 4000 to 6000 miles a year, I suppose. About 600 - 1000 track miles.

I need new tyres every year. If you reckon that one track mile is as tough as ten road miles (a reasonable view) then that adds up roughly...

Bracknell Tyres. Will be less than £250 all in.

I've used them for years.
