Senior Moment - Advice V8 Layout

Need some advice as I seem to be having a senior moment regarding the layout of the V8 cylinders and fitting new HT leads.

Page 13 of the bible has a diagram of the cylinder layout of the V8. On the left of the diagram is what appears to be a pully which I assume indicates the oil/water pump and therefore the front of the engine.

From this the diagram indicates that cylinders 1/3/5/7 are on the left bank and 2/4/6/8 are on the right bank.

This is the opposite to what I have been told by the supplier of the, numbered, HT leads.

Who is right.

Drivers side is the even bank, passenger side the odd bank, number 1 is at the front of the engine number 8 is at the back.

I corrected the sequence in my bible....
Probably gives you your answer.
