Picking the car up on Friday (M3200GT) and it needs cam belt doing in April, but I want to get it done straight away. I live in Chichester, can anyone recommend some one close, say in West Sussex or East Hampshire that could do it for me for a good price. Its had its service, but the belt was not done. Lancasters have quoted me about £200 to do it, but its a bit far.

Spoke to them yesterday to confirm the price, its £200 fitting, £49 for the belt kit, plus VAT. Still very, very reasonable. Add this to the Lancaster standard service of £480, and you get a major service for the £750 mark (or is there more to the major than the service and belt) that's half the price most people have been paying of late. ( I was let to beleive that the major service was £1,500)

And all from a Main Dealer, fantastic Lancasters, keep it up.

No mention of the auxiliary drive belt @ £24 that one normally changes at the same time as the cambelt (has to be removed) or far more importantly the cambelt idler bearing @ £40 which IMO is more important than the cambelt itself. FWIW, retail list for the cambelt is £85 + vat so even allowing for some very generous discounting something is not right here.

Hope this helps

I live in Derby and Lancasters would not pick my 3200 up! Mind you at 200 quid for a belt change I think it might be worth taking it there myself!

I know one of the drivers at lancasters. He picked up a 360 in a lorry from falkirk, drove it to colchester and delivered it back all for ................. new tyres!!!!!!

I have to agree with Nigelo, this sounds a bit bizarre, i rang them today and they quoted me £450+vat, I think something is rather odd.

Could be wrong though, proof would actually paying the bill!!!!
