V8 S - value to sell in what seems to be a buyers market

I have had my V8S for a year and have really enjoyed to date my first TVR, so much so I want to move on and look for a Chim. 4.5 or Griff. 5.0 with PAS. I don't want to sell because there is anything wrong with my S just that being an older guy I am finding the manual steering a bit heavy when reversing into my curving driveway. Don't want anything slower though.
Two questions. What is a reasonable asking price for my V8S and where best to advertise, PH ?. My car is a 1992 precat, 65 K miles with full history, not mint with a few stone chips and minor paintwork blemishes.

It always seems to be a buyers market this time of year, sell in the spring and buy in the winter I reckon.
Only trouble is that means summer with no TVR.

I agree with Derek, not a good time at the moment always gonna be a buyers market and not get the best price. However that also goes for the car you are buying so if doing at the same time, shouldnt make too much difference.

As for prices, the range is very wide, from around £7-8k for a not so good example, to around £9-11K for a good example (very good condition but could do with a little work here and there. Rising to £11-£16k for immaculate examples, meaning either completely and insanely original & immaculate like Andys or bodywork excellent, interior retrimmed/immaculate, engine work, uprated shocks/discs/brakes/lights so nothing to do basically. For the sceptics, there have been two sold in the last 18 months for over £15K, due to the rarity value.

So look at the condition of your car and price accordingly.

Why don't you look into a Power steering conversion..? Granted the S never had it as an option and the Chimaera rack is quite different to the S rack, but I will wager that there are other manufacturers racks that would have the same dimensions etc. IIRC the later Tivs are using the "electric" power steering rack from Pug/Citroen (?) If you went the traditional route, on the Pump side you can get the right one and all the anciliaries for the RV8 off fleabay for about £30.. I'll wager there are a lot of options on getting a similar dimension PAS rack re-geared and the geometry changed by an engineering company for not that much cash too.

There are more options to this than simply selling the car... also if you were going to "loose" £1k at this time of year on sale price due to the deflated market, even if the conversion cost £1k (which it shouldn't) you'd still not have lost anything in the great scheme of things.

Worth looking into ?
