Is it just me or is it an absolute bitch trying to get a decently rapid flow of petrol into the tank when filling up. Anything more than a gentle squeeze on the pump trigger causes fuel to feedback and cut-off the pump.

Its getting a tad tiresome putting 50 odd litres in at what seems to be 5 litres a minute!

any tricks, suggestions, or is it a case of TADTS

I've found that it varies from pump to pump (or petrol station to petrol station). At my local Shell I've got to trickle it in whereas at the Shell further away I can put in petrol at full speed.

Are you getting the nozzle fully into the pipe ? I find that if I put the nozzle with the trigger bit facing the boot then gently wiggle it drops in a treat. If you dont get it fully seated you get all sorts of problems.

Varies from car to car. Don't understand the science, but people swear they fill better if you park with the filler on the far side from the pump.

I find it varies. I try to be careful but every so often manage to p!ss fuel down the back of the car.

oh yes, been there, thank god its not just me then.

so it seems the best advice is slip it in pointing backwards and wiggle it till it drops all the way in - i'll give it a go later!

Have no idea where the filler is on a Chim, but the V8s was also very tiresome until someone on here gave me the tip of putting the nozzle in upside down. Rotated 180degrees from the normal approach and you could than go at full throttle. This may tally with the idea of parking on the “ wrong side” of the pump.
