Just under a week with the 500 now and loving every bit of it.

The thing that struck me immediately was what I thought to be twitchy steering but I put this down to not having had PAS before. A week and 500 miles on though and I'm beginning to wonder.

A friend who is also an experienced motor mechanic (non-TVR) took it for a run. He "hated" my 400 but confessed to liking the 500, apart from the steering.

Is this a case of TADTS or should I get it looked at?

(Tyre pressures are ok).

I always thought my Griff was a bit twitchy but only on that first bit of turning in.Seemed to react more than the steering input.Since putting new springs/dampers on its disappeared completely.

I'd say the PAS is quite heavy, not over-sensitive. Have you checked the front tyre pressures?

Might be worth checking your tracking as this can cause tramlining
and twitchyness.

excess toe in on your wheel alignment will make your steering very twitchy & feel overlight/sensitive also, worth just getting the tracking checked anyways, must admit i find the PAS ok a tad light when going quick, but once your back into chim mode your back in the swing of things,i wouldent do with out it.

Not wishng to state the obvious, but whilst checking tyre pressures you did check the tread for any signs of uneven wear??

Might a previous owner have replaced the steering rack with a quicker one, either by design or by mistake?

Right.

Tyre pressures. Get farked! nuts

Tread. Is ok.

Alignment and/or the rack must be worth a look at. Any giveaway signs if the rack is not standard?
