Folks, I'm looking to convert my Fireblade - engined car from stick shift to "buttons on the steering wheel" type; preferably with cut - out arrangement to allow "flat" changes, ie no lift - off. Has anyone any experience / can recommend one? (maybe also recommend types to avoid?)

Cheers,

John

Do you want clutchless downshifts as well? It will cost a bit more . . .

Clutchless Downshifts???!!!
Surely the cluch has to be dipped for the throttle blip to occur otherwise when the blip happens it will mash the gearbox??????
I have had experience with people trying this and blowing their boxes to bits DONT DO IT!!

In my experience what works best is to fit a quickshift sensor ie the one from dynojet to the lever mechanism so that when the lever is pulled the spark is cut and the flatshift occurs. I know this isnt the buttons but it works best in my opinion, and it costs so much less(£350) than say a proshift system(£1200). Wont work with carbs though!

The Kliktronic system as used by Toniq seems to work well, though in 'standard' form you'll still need to use the clutch for downshifts.

You will still need the stick to get neutral, so dont take it out completely. The solenoids used are too powerfull to get it into neautral as it needs a delicate touch.

Is that a FireBlade problem?

I've got a ProShift paddle system on the Hayabusa in my XTR2 and the clutchless downchanges are no problem.

Very interesting; in a perfect world clutchless downshifts with autoblip would be just the thing, however looking at the websites it all looks a bit expensive - perhaps some home experimentation is called for. Anybody any experience of "build your own"?

Really cant see any benefit myself.Changes are so fast anyway, unless you *really* are chasing the ultimate laptime and you know that quickshift will give the extra 10th.
Overpriced as well in my view.

Just my 2p worth.
