ECU 4.5 for 4.2

Can the MBE ECU for the 4.5 be adapted to suit the 4.2? If so can you then fit in the Red Rose chip?

I don't think that'll give you the results you are looking for as the capacity of a 4.5 is larger than a 4.2 hence cocking up the mapping of the ecu and giving you nothing of what you wish to achieve, if you catch my drift!

I would expect it's the same ECU, with differing maps between 4.2 and 4.5. The 4.2 runs much sweeter than the 4.5 as standard and there's not much to gain in trying to alter the mapping. I'd doubt a 4.5 map is a good fit for the 4.2 and to date I've never heard of it being done. If you need a replacement ECU then any Cerb V8 MBE would do you, but it would need a 4.2 map installed. I'm not sure if there's any difference between the MBE setup used in Speed 6s and the V8, but it's possible you could re-use a speed 6 MBE if necessary. Paul at Austec would know.
