Aaargh I have a problem. Driving the car to work this morning it became immediately apparent that there was something wrong with my headlamps.

I have very dim sidelights, very dim dipped beam and only one on main beam.

Dipped beam relay is ok, it seems like an earthing problem. Have checked the earth point on the chassis by the steering UJ, it's ok and the other one under the radiator (driver's side) looks to be tight although a little rusty. Unfortunately it's a bugger to get at, looks like I may have to cut the bodywork below.

Before I take a dremel to the car is there anything else I should be checking? Anyone had this before?

Yes of course! these aren't for the headlamps though according to the book. There are also two more in the passenger wing which are supposed to be a pain to get to...

The radiator one is headlamps. The only alternative to your plan is to take the radiator out.

Ok found the problem thank god because getting to that earth point is a serious pain in the ass.

Whoever had the car first had fitted 100/90W bulbs and they have melted the headlamp connectors. Am going to have to replace both of them. Bad design anyway, spade connectors in a wet area!
