Sprinting Cerbs
Discussion
Some of us have been sprinting our cerbs for a few years now. TT Tim joined last year for a trial event and did about 10 events if I recall, He seems hooked! see his recent posts.
The new season starts on March 18 at North Weald in Essex. This one is an airfield so there is literally acres of run off with absolutely nothing to hit. You can genuinely drive your standard road car at 11/10ths as it was intended.
Sprinting is a huge buzz- when you sit on the start line I promise your heart will be pounding-and yet a full seasons sprinting does less damage to your car than a single track day.
There should be 4 or 5 cerbs regularly out next year in the TVRCC championship (60 plus TVR's in total)in 2007. It's great, I can promise a warm welcome, great bacon butties and as much help and advice as you could possibly need. Why don't you come and join us. Either reply here or email me off line for details.
Cheers all

I'm sure I don't know what you mean Jes.
I only did the whole season because some nutter in a Green Cerb' was kept in a cage and wasn't allowed out to play!
Seriously guys, it's relatively cheap, great fun and hugely addictive. One of the best bits is the friendlyness of the paddock, without exception they are all great guys.
Jes, I ought to slap you! Failing to put the best place to find out more info:

Hope to join you next year. Got as far as getting my license etc. this year, but then went and bought a boat.
Sprints are timed events, with (generally) a single car running on the course at a time. Usualy held on circuits, sprint tracks or the paved driveways of some country estate. Great fun.
Trackdays as you know, you go round and round, no timing allowed.
In terms of track time, trackdays win hands down, but I love doing hillclimbs and in NZ (where I've done this before) we often would have up to 6 cars on a track for sprinting, so there was always someone to chase

Hi Si-pen
Sprinting is basically the cheapest form of motorsport.
You are on the track on your own so you can go as fast or slow as you want without the fear of someone else knocking you off and damaging your car. It's rather like rallying except on tarmac and without the trees to hit.
The best bit is that you can run an absolutely standard car of any description with no modifications at all although to be in the TVR championship you obviously need a TVR. Any cerb is so quick that you will be competitive.
I did a few years of track days and when the rush from that dropped off I looked for the next step and sprinting seemed like a good idea.
There is a good introduction on the website above that TT Tim posted. It will explain everything. If you fancy a chat give me a call 07770-220302
cheers

Mmmmmmmm, sounds very interesting. I like the idea of that and will take a closer look at the web site tonight. Thanks Jes.

I must admit, i do like the idea, but for the moment, i have to say that track days still do it for me.
Having said that, my mate has a beetle in the Uniroyal Cup & is in the process of bullying me into entering a couple races with him next season, so i may well be stepping up to the breach sometime soon
