If you've got a corporate virus scanner then presumably you've got a corporate IT department - get them to set you up with remote access. (RDP is probably your best bet.)

Get the other person to send you a help request.
Start, help and support, remote assistance, Invite someone to help you
You can connect and watch what they are doing, then request permission to take over the keyboard and mouse.

Thanks will do!

Nightmare, seems your IT dept are rather keen that you can't do what you wanted!
What software do they use to connect to users machines?
What software do they use to connect to users machines?
Sounds like the I.T. Chaps have thought this out and covered all bases.
If there is a genunie business reason for this then I am sure your I.T. department will sort this out for you? If you are doing something naughty then I am guessing you will get caught sooner or later because it sounds like they preform some type of inventry scanning on the machines and installing/uninstalling doesn't fool most inventry scans as traces are left in the registry.
I don't know if you are familiar with the company I.T. policy but what you are trying to do is a sackable offence in a lot of company's.

I am not trying to do anything naught, only trying to make my life easier...
Dont swear at me about IT policy thats a banned phrase in my office see www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t=322378 I am currently in a dispute with IT over there policy, and i am working with my Director and the new IT director to establish a new policy.
What i am trying to do is:-
to control and monitor 4 high end workstations from a different part of the office. We run some processor intesive tasks for mathmatical modelling and it would be benificial for a handful of us to control these from our PC's rather than keep moving around. As a side note we would like these PC's kept in the IT room for the building (aircon etc) with no monitors attached, so we can free up 4 desks in our office for new starters.
You are trying to do something which is outside the desinged policy (otherwise it would let you do it) and you have a business case for it (as you explained) so you need to to talk to them to change the policy.
They may have a case for not allowing it but someone has to decide who is right between the 2 cases do the benefits outweigh any risks etc. It sound like you have a bit of a politcal nighmare going on but someone somewhere must be resposible.

Does "mstsc /v:machinename /console" help? Make sure you log on with the same id as they are currently logged on with. This will stop anyone viewing what is on the screen while at the computer though.
That one works fine not a problem, I can do remote desktop and login and do what i need but the treat of using RealVNC is that more than one client can connect, which is where i wanted to go!

If you can get away with only one person having access at a time, then RDP does everything you need. (Having multiple people fighting over the keyboard and mouse doesn't seem like a good idea to me, so this will possibly be better in practice than sharing it full time. If you really need multiple sessions then update it to a terminal server.)
