planetdave 944 saga - the vote of thanks
Discussion
Well - anyone following the various ups and downs of the planetdave 'wll he or wont he' can now laugh up their sleeves with a
'the fools gone and done it!'
planetdaves secret off-world base now has an '89 944 turbo, with a couple of modifications, occupying the No1 dock.
Worry not, planetdave fans, the mighty Copenhagen is still with us and about to undergo some light surgery to ensure long term survival.
Anywho - back to the business at hand.
It all started one summers day when I looked through my DJ pockets that had remained untouched since BTaP 2005.
Blow me down! It appeared that I had the price of a round stashed away
I did think of buying something sensible. But hey! this is planetdave and sensible ideas are rapidly consigned to the dustbin, smashed with a sledgehammer and then nuked from orbit - just to be sure
At this point www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=48&t=315130 it's obvious that I was still a little sensible and groping in the dark. But it wasn't long before 'normal' service was resumed and only a late 250 would suffice for my megalomaniacal needs. After all it WOULD NOT DO to be left for dead by my sister in her Griffith.
So I ferreted around. And dug. Saw and was disappointed. Asked some questions. Got blown out by a higher bidder
(damn you rich people!). And then - in a drunken mist last saturday night, phoned a likely vic....candidate. Fell out of bed on the sunday to drive a considerable distance (>1mile
) to have a look and came home without it. Just in case.
By monday night we had agreed terms and the rest was just public transport hell for me and a late night drive home on thursday.
Christ - I didn't realise that I'd won an Oscar!
Anyway. I'd like to thank my agent.
And in no particular order.
Fatboy. A tower of strength (see what I did there?). Bloody nice chap and full of helful info. And pies.
Baz Hartech. Yes I know he stands to profit from me but he's always leaping to the rescue with advice and obvious enthusiasm. Will be round soon, Baz. Get the coffee on
The vendor. Not asked if he wants to be named; so I wont. Car sales as they should be done. And cat shit in the kitchen. Move the tray into the bathroom!
And everyone else who contributed advice left right and centre.
A couple of people offered to sell me their cars. Good initiative I thought. One looked extremely nice indeed. But wasn't a turbo so went onto the reserve list.
And the wooden spoon goes to.........
I e-mailed and sent SMSs to a few people who just could not be arsed replying. Nuff said.
A quick apology. Anyone who has tried to e-mail me this week - I'm on a new computer which I haven't configured yet. Out later to buy some wi-fi cards and when they are set up will be on my usual address.
Ta-ta, toodle pip and see you around
