Has anyone else noticed that the new caring, green Conservative Party has decided that TVR owners are "Tossers"? Their new ad, which is supposed to be about people getting into debt, features a weak-willed man being persuaded by his "inner tosser" to buy either a Saggy, a Tuscan or a T350.

Watch it here:

Nice to know they support British industry - but then we found out how much they care about that during the Eighties.
Can anyone think of an effective way for us to make their lives hell over this?

Well at least they are using a British car - soon furious they will only have Morgan's to use.

It also shows that even to hardened PR spin tcensoredrs that the TVR brand is one of aspiration, a qudos that Morgan doesn't quite have to the same extent.

It confirms everything I have ever thought about polticians and particularily the "tories" ao I am a tosser now am I ?

I hope my fellow 500 "tossers" who were in London on Sunday make their feelings on this kind of thing known, real support for British industry, why not use a Ferrari or Porche (maybe they think they will upset too many people or aree European friends) and it is much easier to kick a man when he is down.

Still can not believe it (to coin a phrase, wonder if it will catch on !!)

Whats this?

Surely this isnt an insulting, all sweeping, offensive comment from politicians??

Surely not!

Politics rule book #647.2:

How to receive mass votes from the public:

Insult them and their tastes, insinuate that they're all medalion wearing tossers while single handedly mocking the British motor industry

Well heres another all sweeping comment, but this time from me:

All politicians are cocks

I would be very surprised if this website has anything to do with the Conservative Party whatsoever. Can you really see them using the word t*ss*r so freely in their material?
You've been hoodwinked, mate.

Er, I reported this a week ago but no body seemed that interested, saw the clip on the channel 4 news, see my thread:

Just used "Contact Us". Here was my message:

I think it incredibly insesitive (or more likely utterly ignorant) of whoever put this together to have used the last great British Sports Car (TVR) as an aspirational device for "tossers" at a time when hundreds of the people that make these wonderful cars are facing a jobless Christmas.

We should be celebrating one of the last examples of British engineering excellence while we can, before band wagon and media obsessed tossers like yourselves force their extinction in this Country.

Yes, I know. So it would have been impossible for anyone else to have put that there then?

The whole thing is just so crass, I can't believe its not a hack of some sort.

If it were genuine, as I said, I would be very surprised, and disappointed.

The fact the Tiv is being positioned as something highly desirable and tempting, that might cause somebody to overstretch themselves into debt, is surely good news for the TVR brand?

I think the Conservatives have done TVR a favour TBH. Almost certainly the only one ever :-)

It was covered by Mr Paxman on BBC2 Newsnight a few of days ago - it is, without doubt, a genuine Tory product.

We'll see.

Even if it is genuine, its not trying to discredit the products shown, but discouraging people from taking easy credit they can't afford.
The way its done is huge error of judgement for a major political party though, IMHO.

I can see where you're coming from Jerry, but unfortunately because the majority of the British TV watching public seem incredibley adept at taking things on face value, most will perceive (those that no what car it is...oddly not many people do!) that TVR's are being labelled as Tossers cars thanks to the insensitivity of the production!

If they wanted to advertise for the inner tosser's (and utter wanker hehe) car, they should have featured Tony B.Liar's motor?

The clip shows the bloke giving in to temptation and buying nice things he can't afford. The cars are used as examples of nice things. Personally I don't have a problem with that.

Aren't you lot missing the point?

PS That test is crap. It assumes I have debt.

PPS If the Tories really are trying to discourage people from getting into debt from... frankly... stupidity (or tosserism?) then isn't that a good thing?

Wait and see what happens if this ad catches on with the general unwashed and then the inevitable "tosser" signs that will be made at you as you drive your Tiv down the street. I'm sure you'll be having a ball.

Me too.

I'm afraid this is an abject example of how far the Tories have stooped under Cameron. They will do anything to seem trendy but end up looking ridiculous. They are going to get stuffed again at the next election I fear.
