Just spoken to the other half on the phone, he and his mum are heading down to Devon today. Anyway he has just told me that he thinks he's been got. Just as they got over the border into Devon he was in a line of traffic all of them doing a bit over the 30 limit. I think he said he was the third car. Anyway, as they all come flying round a corner, there's a van with a camera. So would the operator managed to have gotten all of them or just the first one? (he's kinda hoping that the car in front managed to stop them getting him), also, has the sliding scale for fines/points dependant on how much over the limit come into effect yet?
He wants to know if he has to wait for a letter now!

Just to add, he's just phoned me back ans said that it was one of the new white mobile cmaera vans and that all the windows are tinted, and that none of the windows were open and that there was no sign of a camera at all, so does this mean that they were not actually shooting the cars?
He holds his hand up to speeding, and if they have got him then he accepts it, he just wants to know basically the stuff he has asked me to ask you lot.

Speeding happens quite a lot these days of specially low limits, I thought I may just have been speeding the other day on a road, couldn't say for sure (no cameras or anything/one to catch me) but I accept I may have done it, just to ease my conscience I might send the relevant council a £60 cheque and ask the DVLA to ensorse my license
C'mon - he may be fine (as he wasn't the lead car) but 'he accepts it???'. No wonder the scammers are so happy!! Bend over, make their day.

Thanks for the info so far, have passed it along to him.
He has now said that around the next corner it looked like the whole of the county's police force was out on the road, cars, vans, all sorts everywhere. He wasn't specific about the road, but apparently it's the one that goes from Chard to Axminster (don't ask me, I don't know the area!)
Have had a look on the BBC News website to see if anything was going on, but all I could find was about the Christmas crackdown on drink driving and the fact that they will be out with the ANPR vans. (for persistant offenders apparently)

Can't use a scamera through a window.
"Guidelines" say so. Experience says not. Greater Manchester Police traffic cops use speed cameras through their windscreens while hidden round the side of buildings. The last time I saw this was 2 years ago (I parked in their 'view' by accident after a long drive - they were well hidden in their Omega and was told in very clear terms from the muppet's first comments that I was obstructing a police officer in the execution of their duty...), no reason to assume they have stopped doing it since...
