I'm giving due consideration to swapping the Gallardo for something more sensible.

Basicly, have 2 kids now, I never get the chance to drive it apart from the 3 mile journey to and from work....great!
At weekends if I do get the chance, I tend to go for a blat in either the Caterham or the Elise.

So I'm thinking I should have something I can actualy use at weekends etc when there are all 4 of us.

So opinions please on...

Maserati QP
BMW M5
Audi S6
Mercedes CLS 63 AMG

Or a wild card...

Range Rover Supercharged.

Informed opinions welcomed....

what about a small Maserati? Gransport/4200/3200GT
Can get 4 adults in my 3200 AC - but it is still small enough to throw around.

I posted a while ago looking to replace my RR supercharged with a Maserati QP, but then I thought, I've already got a 4 seater so I'm looking at something for even more fun hehe

For the record, I'd go Maser or RR (proper one, not sport) between those two. My Rangie has been faultless over a lot of miles, and that's why I had trouble thinking of something to replace it with.

I take it you aren't into Flying Spurs?

I think to be realistic it's got to have 4 doors otherwise it's just too much hassle with car seats/ kids and we'll just end up in the wifes XC90 all th time like we do now, so the Gransport, DB9 or 911 are out.

I don't feel I'm not old enough for a Bentley yet, still clinging onto my 30's.

My worry is that having driven the 360 and the Gallardo as everyday I'm not sure if something normal will feel too ordinary.

Only have experience of M5 and RR SC but loved the M5 although I imagine if you want something a bit more special then you have to go for the Maser... Have my name down for the M5 touring which comes out in June which is an option if you need a bit more space, RR is fantastic but I think, like me, you may find yourself hankering over something quicker and more fun to drive, there's no disguising that weight...

Save some cash and get an Evo or Scooby.

Nowhere near the dynamics of an M5 granted but if you want a sensible 4 door car you can still have fun in they tick all the right boxes.

Again all ver nice offers chaps.
Already thought of a 997s but as I say to be realistic I think 2 doors would be a pain.

I couldn't have a Scooby or an EVO for 2 reasons, firstly it might as well be a single seater as the wife wouldn't be seen anywhere near it...
Secondly, neither would I, sorry.

Every time I see a CLS I like them even more.
Such a classy looking car but as you will be swapping your Italian beasty for a four door you need a Maserati QP in your life.

Not considered an S8?

This months Evo gave the CLS63 AMG a good review and wasn't far off the 599's pace... A very special car with supercar performance and comfort for the whole family!! as for your gallardo I know it's very hard to part with it especially after a good blast... I have this problem every week! After adding the CGT to my stable I thought I would sell the Lambo but just can't do it at the moment...for me It's just the most complete supercar out there which happens to look gorgeous too...

Interesting point Nick

Not bad on price either - £72,995

Was expecting some kind of 150k , mega depreciating motor .... ( a. la v12 turbo 6.5's )

Makes the 65 look well over priced and It's quicker round a track! maybe a bargain then...

If I were you I'd keep the Gallardo and buy something cheap and comfortable that you can afford to run in addition, like a Honda Accord for example. Kids trash car interiors so it isn't a great idea your pride and joy also being 'dad's taxi' as it would be if you were to buy a four seater with supercar qualities. You no doubt value your precious ones hugely so won't need the performance on family days out as you won't be wanting to put them at risk. Choose something safe and comfortable that you won't mind ending up with Ribena coloured seats and crisps embedded in the carpet and keep your toy for your own private moments away from sticky fingers! That's what I'd do anyway.

I understand what everyone is saying here but you miss the point....

The Wife has an XC90 which we end up using most of the time....

I've got an Elise 111s and a Caterham R400 so I'm well sorted for sunny blats & track days.
We've also got an A4 Cabriolet for 4 up wafting with the roof down.

The Gallardo is my company car and the only time I get to use it is to and from work, 3 miles each way.

If I do (rarely) get the chance I'm more likely to take the Caterham or the Elise for a blast.

So apart from that trip to and from work I end up spending all my time driving the XC90, which is nice enough but seems stoopid, ergo I need a nice 4 door.

well, the offer to swap with my 996 to see if a 2+2 would do it is always open hehe
