Now! will some one make me happy for Christmas.
I have posted this before, I am sadly in need of the early electric door mirors. I now just need a nearside mirror as I have managed to find a nearly new drivers one.But a full set would be prefered to allow for damaged and U/S works!
Surly there must be one at least around some were! I have tried all the usualy places but still can't find this last mirror.
Once I have this, I can complete the 20 production 350i so its back into original condition. Then I can start/finish of the 1st Production 350i next year!

You probably tried this, but Rimmber bros have a acquired a very large batch of sd1 parts in India. See since then many sd1 and some tvr owners are buying stuff of them they could not get hold of for some time. Parts included full window electrics and door mechanisms. If you can use it (either as the missing part or to replace the whole mechanism with new), hope your are not too late to order....

Dickmint I don't have all 13 now! Just the two Wedges, with maybe another Taimar project soon, and another Cerbera next year for a bit of fun!
But I still need the Mirror/mirrors!

Ehmmmm, thought you were after window electrics, and you are not. And my post is therefore not relevant, but sd1 stuff could help on mirrors perhaps as some wedges used this. Not a lot of people looking for inner mirror parts, so perhaps available.
Recently there were also some threads on replacing electric mirror stuff. Can't remember, but I think a type of car was mentioned of which you could use the electric parts, and put it in the fixed mirror pods of the wedge.

Hi,

I posted a thread few weeks ago looking into the possibility of sorcing them from other cars. The best ones I found were from a audi 80 but they would require a angled spacer to make them fit although they were full elec and very in keeping with the car I decided to remain wingmirror less for now. Am still looking though. surely somebody must know where they came from?

Any body with an early wing mirror ie door mounted not pod type fancy taking it of and giving me all the markings/ ref.no's.? Please?

If I find some I think i'll buy 20 and keep them on stock for other owners so nobody has to go through wing mirror hell!

I believe they were one-offs made for TVR.
I guess the original moulds must be knocking around somewhere mind...

As for the internals and electric bits, taking one apart, It looks pretty universal - all spaced out in the old TVR fassion of self tappers and washers to make fit. I reacon a plethora of various mirror internals could easily be made to fit.

They were made by Britex, not certain if it was just for TVR but am investigating.

The neary new one I do have is in very good condition, but do need just the other side. (Passangers.) Even if it doesn't work, I can retrofit other workings in to it!
So any in any condition is needed so I can finish this car and start on no1.

I found that the mirror motor wiring colours (and circuit) on my 390SE were identical with my brother's SAAB; the joystick control is same as used on the '83 Ford Granada hearse that I used to drive...

The controls for the early wedge are on the drivers door arm rest, not certain were they come from. But with out another mirror I will not know!

I used to drive a hearse, turned alot of heads that car, but my mum would not let me park it on the drive still dont know why.
Pulled some very strange girls when driving it back in the early 80s

Well some one made me happy. Got a set of mirrors on there way courtsey of a S owner! The mirrors we also fitted on early S es!
