Hello,

Not sure if this has anything to do with drivers or hardware however I installed a new graphics card in my media PC and i'm getting tons of artifacts when playing back movies. Everything else is fine though which is why it's a little confusing. Never seen anything like it!

This is the second graphics card I've had as the last one died on me after about installing it and before you all ask, yup, I used an anti-static strap to a grounded source and the power was turned off on the PC.

So...is this a driver problem which I can fix easily or a hardware problem as if it is, i'm getting another card!!!

P.S. It's a Sapphire ATI Radeon 7000. Like I said, it's just a media PC so just a TV output needed

Thanks for your help...

ATI's are known to have issues with some of their drivers so you really need to play around with those for a bit, try the latest ones and then work your way back. What player are using as you might have a conflict there.

Try the ffdshow codec, its a software decoder so won't hit on your video hardware to accelerate and potentially screw up the video.

Ah, cool. I'll give that a go. I think I have it lurking about, otherwise I can download it. I'll let you know how I get on.....
