I have a 1999 Mercedes C230K which I'm selling for my sister in law. Unfortunately the battery has gone completely flat and the boot lock is seized, so I can't get in to jump start the car. Some Mercs apparently have a jump point under the bonnet, but not this one of course. I've tried charging the battery using a cigar lighter adaptor on a C-Tec charger, but that doesn't work, so I'm assuming that circuit is closed when the ignition is off. I need to get the car going, and I'm wondering if I can do it by removing a bulb and attaching a battery charger to the terminals so I can use the electric boot release ? Once I'm in the boot it should be easy as I can then get jump leads onto the battery. Any ideas please, I REALLY need to get in the car today...

Thanks in advance

Could you jack the car up and attach jump leads to the starter solonoid?

Could you find a fuse that is permanantly live to get power to it through a connector or something just to open the boot?

I tried powering the headlamp circuit by attaching a battery charger to 2 screwdrivers and touching them onto either side of the fuse but all that happens is I blow the fuse. I can't jack the car up as it's parked on grass, so I can't jump it via the starter.

NOOOOoooooooo!!!!!
Don't try using the lighting circuit to charge things!!!
how do you normally open the boot?
is there a button inside the car??
if so then you could try powering that and open it that way.
Otherwise just call the RAC/AA and get them to start it.
Can you get under the bonnet?
Dam stupid design if you ask me, They built the car and realised they forgot the battery. TRUE!
