Don't quote me on this one.

I used to have a HP Journada (SH3 processor, WinCE 3.0). Unfortunately CE of that era was built in to ROM so it can't be upgraded or new drivers added. I could be wrong (I am drunk) but in that period of time you had several competing CPU's wandering around so it made writing an OS rather difficult, where as by the time CE 4.0 (Windows Pocket 2001 / 2002 ) came around things were pretty much going towards Intel's Xscale range.

I thank you.

A little baffled by the "The first challenge was to upgrade the Pocket PC's firmware (from 1.0 to 1.11) to enable SDIO." but at least i know it can work.

Wander along to the HP support site, and download the updates which there will be for the ipaq, and apply them. I suspect this particular update was for the SD Card reader firmware.
