arrrrrrhhhhhhhhhh Blue Screen!
Discussion
Mate of mine was Setting up a new Dell laptop and all seemed well.
he was unistalling and installing software but when he turned the computer off and then later switched it back on, it comes up with the dreaded screen that says it has stopped windows from loading so that no damage can be caused, and that he should disable anti virus and disk defrag etc, and that he should check hard drive F(i think), so he then asked me to have a look at it. so i tryed starting it in safe mode and it still does the same also tryed starting it from the last known configuration that worked and that didnt do it either.
Got a feeling that it is due to him unistalling Norton Ghost because it metioned deleting drive F(oops).
So where do i go from here is it a case of getting him to call Dell up or simple setting up boot options so that it doesnt try to boot drive F, or do i need to put the windows disk in and repair?

I doubt Dell would provide support for a 3rd party app (Ghost) and would simply suggest wiping the system and starting again.
I'd give a repair install a whirl, although I'd also brace myself for the horrible reality that your going to have to install XP... AGAIN.

So do you think was to do with Norton ghost?

I've uninstalled the trial version of ghost that comes on new Dell's a couple of times now and allways deleted the F drive, it hasn't caused this problem.

Failing that just use the restore CD to nuke it from orbit and start again, might not be a bad option if hes only just got it anyway? (i.e. hasnt got anything saved on it)
What the Windows XP CD?
And he hasnt got the original windows CD he never payed extra for one, but could he use any original windows cd?
