Very quick question please?
Discussion
helpfull answer = No, the central oil pressure/temp gauge can be fitted to any car regardless of sump.
sort of helpfull answer = possibly yes, the sort that have a track day sump are likely to have an oil pressure/temp gauge fitted at the same time
very helpfull answer = ask the seller
most halpfull answer = look under the car. if it appears to have a titanic sized aluminium box squeezed in under the engine its almost certainly got a track day sump.

Thanks guys,I just assumed that if the track sump was a factory fit it would have the pressure gauge, or if it was an aftermarket one whilst going to the expense of that you'd fit a gauge anyway. On this particular car (late 3R)it's advertised with one but if I go for it I'm going to insist on a factory service anyway so all will be revealed. Can I assume all M400's have it?
All M400's have one.
It was an £800 option on 3R's (all but the very first 3R's had track sumps as standard)
I asked abouthaving one fitted and they wanted 800 notes for the retro fit too. So I didn't bother.
If you find a car without and really want one, I think your money would be better spent on an electronic device like a defi. With that, you can buy all sorts of sensors and things to monitor far more than just oil temp. It gives feedback and beeps warnings at you too.

Something like this. Much cheaper than 800 squids too.
Obes has this one mounted above the rear view mirror and its very coolio!

This might sound like a daft question but im not entirely sure if my car has the trackday sump or not, I had the undertray off the bottom of the car a week or so ago and cleaned all the underneath of the engine, it does have a funny shaped welded aluminium box underneath with the drain plug on the side, is this it?? or is that just the standard one??

Sounds like it - sort of triangular[ish] sides, welded seams and the plug on the side. If in any doubt, make sure you get someone to check to make sure before you track it.

Don't worry about it being a daft question. I booked mine into the factory to have one fitted , took a day off work and travelled 2hours to the factory to find
I already had one
