Aye but the minimum fine for someone exceeding the speed limit by 30kph is 1000 Swiss francs! That's.... erm... somewhere in the region of £420... you'd have better odds getting stopped by trafpol in the UK, for sure.

Hmmm... That's interesting, I work in Zurich during the week, though I don't have my car out here (well yet...) I thought that the Scandinavians have had a system like this for a while too.

Was in Zug at the weekend and a friend was driving a friends car and got stopped going 'quite fast' and got something like a 10,000 frank fine...fortunately the blokes porsche he was testing was pretty loaded...

Worse - 3 days in prison for anything over 25mph above the limit! Less in urban areas.

Heheheh. Well, due warning for anyone planning on doing a little Swiss driving...

To be fair, a lot of Swiss mountain roads are also absolutely bl**dy lethal - my granny lost both her parents and godfather when they took a bend a little too fast back in the 60s. I guess it's cheaper to hit people in the wallet than scrape their remains out of a mountain valley somewhere...
