Remove it via Control Panel...

Tried IE7, reverted quite quickly...

When you go into Add/Remove programs, make sure the "Show Updates" checkbox is ticked. You'll then see Windows Internet Explorer 7 in the list, and you will be able to remove it.

Out of interest, what is it about IE7 that made you both want to revert to IE6?

Didn't like the tabbed browser... screwed up webmail... doesn't work with parts of HP printers... slower than IE6... crashed a fair bit...

Looked nice though

My work laptop automatically downloaded and installed IE7 this morning. I don't use the browser, but I'm sure my PC uses it for other reasons.

Since this morning the laptop has blue screened and hung a few times and I've lost connection to the Exchange server...

...coincidence? scratchchin

You can disable the tabbed browsing: Tools, Internet Options, Tabs - Settings, uncheck Enable tabbed browsing.

Were you using the release version or a beta version?

Release version. I know you can get rid of tabbed browsing, but then it just seemed a lot of fuss for nothing. Trouble is, over time I've developed "strategies" for browsing and they no longer "fit" with IE7...

I'm normally an early adopter when it comes to these things, but I just didn't like IE7...

I've been using IE7 for several months and have not experienced any problems - I really like it, particularly the ability to set up multiple tabs that open to specific pages e.g. PH What's New page, when I launch the browser. It really improves speed of getting where I want to go. TBH I can't understand what people are finding so problematic about IE7 unless there's some install glitch that means IE7 is not functioning correctly. In that case I'd probably first try an uninstall/reinstall rather than going backwards to IE6.

My main problem with IE7 was for some reason it changed the look of all the fonts and gave me headaches. As odd as that may sound. Now back to good old IE6.

Have you tried turning ClearType on or off? Under Tools - Internet Options - Advanced, scroll down the list to 'Multimedia' and either set or clear the checkbox, click Apply and then restart IE.

Might not make any odds, but maybe worth a try...

Further to my earlier post, I removed IE7 (could you uninstall IE before IE7?) and lo and behold I could connect to the company Exchange server again via VPN.

Pressing the 'ALT' key brings up all the old menus. Keystrokes like ALT+F work exactly the same as it did in IE6 - only difference is the menu bar is hidden until you activate it.

There's a page here on the Microsoft website that gives a load of the shortcuts.
