Did you finally get your car into the 'Luton based' service centre?

If so, what was the verdict, and more importantly have you been able to get it covered by the warranty?

Mine's booked into the same place tomorrow morning for the same problem to be looked at....

Cheers!

is this rain seepage regarding the puddle of water in the back of the car?

There is a vauxhall technical service bulletin out about it and a number of people on here have had it sorted under warranty.

Check the FAQ thread for a link to the TSBs

It's going in this Friday. You'll have to let me know how you get on first :P

Like others have said it's a known problem and should be sortable under warranty (i.e. kick up a fuss if they try and play silly buggers).

I have no idea if they'll be able to sort it out there and then.

Thanks - I certainly will do. It's in today and I'm expecting a call later this morning with the verdict. They seem to feel that wahtever the issue is it'll be fixed same day...

Yeh right. Took my dealer 24 days to fix mine. Make sure you get new carpets and a new set of matts out of them as well.

Well here's the news - they say it's suspect door seals and, as such, not covered under warranty.

Even when pressed that was the final answer. Gonna be a couple of days to order them in as well...

There seems to be some inconsistancy here. Mine went back to the dealer after 8 months and they first replaced the door seal and carpets under warranty (5days). Then it P"$$ed down a week later and I had water laying on the carpet in the back foot well and then they had it for a further 20 days replacing all sorts of seals having spoken with Vauxhall in Germany. They also replaced the carpets and matts a second time. All under warranty (The caim listed 26 hours labour!!).

I don't actually think it is the door seals though is it? I thought it was something to do with the rear arch liners and a poorly fitting gromet or somesuch?
It certainly seems to be a common problem so surely the TSB should make it clear...

If it's wet later or tomorrow I might go for a drive with kitchen roll stuffed in various places and see what gets wet.

Let me know how you get on.

Caspy: would you guys do it under warranty?

Trouble is the warranty for water ingress only lasts 12 months - my car is over two years old...

When is a three-year warranty not a three year warranty, eh??

If the diagnosis is correct by the dealer, and Vauxhall have said no then they would say no to us also.

Oh I see. In that case as new door seals seem not to fix the problems get them to fix the other areas of ingress as per the TSB. That should be covered by warranty as its a manufacturing defect. Then, if its still leaks, have the door seal done.

Hmm. Looks like I'm going to get landed with a bill. How much is it going to cost you?

Does anyone know what the code/number/id is of the TSB so I can refer them to it?

Quoted £140 for the new door seals, which I hope includes fitting the bastards!

To be honest, I'm 99% sure that in my car's case it is the doors to blame - on the day it got really wet you could actually follow the water trail from the sill down into the footwell where the the water collected in the groove along the bottom rubber then spilled over the lip and inside the car.

Of course the car has hardly ever had anyone in the back and it was only noticed this time by a potential buyer coming to view it (handy - not!) so it's anyone's guess how long it's been leaking. That said the carpets and mat were basically instained/undamaged, so my guess is that this is a pretty recent fault.

It's just one of those things I guess....

Ah fair enough. I might have a better look at mine tonight and see if I can track it down myself. I could do without the expense at this time of year!

Did they charge you for the inspection aswell or just for the new seals?

They haven't mentioned any other charges as yet, and I didn't ask, since I've got no choice but to pay what it costs anyway, especially coz it's up for sale...

Sounds like it would be worth checking the door membrane rather than just the door seals - mine showed similar symptoms and it turned out to be the membrane behind the interior door trim rather than the rubber seals

I collected my 04 VXR yesterday after a 6 day visit to the main dealers body repair shop.
They resealed the door membranes ? as per warranty claims dept at GM instructions.
This was to solve the water in the passenger rear foot well issue.
No charge after 26 months from new.
