Want to set up a basic website - seems like lots of options out there including using Front page, any thoughts on the best and simplest way to go?

Cheers

Frontpage is pretty basic, but I have used it as its easy to get into. I think the code that is generated by it is pretty messy which is a bit negative for those who know what they are doing.

What kind of site are you looking to make?

I am in the process of changing jobs and one of the options is to go the consulting route so I need to get something up with the Company name that outlines what we do etc, etc. so we have a bit of a web presence.

Also want to set something up in addition that I can experiment with, in other words, build a personal website and play around abit to see what I can do and to get comments from friends etc before I change something on the main site.

Notepad.

HTML and CSS

Its clean, its compliant and its easily spiderable.

TopStyle 3 is effectively a posh notepad that makes the design a bit easier.

Its the way to go. Sure you need to understand HTML - but that's not hard. THe level of control you have over it is sooo much better.

Hi Don

Had a feeling that would be the answer - I need to get something up quickly even if it is only a front page and a couple of links as it doesnt look good if you tell people about what you do and you have nothing on the web.

Suppose I have some time at the moment so maybe better get to grips with HTML!!

HH.

PS - how about a pre-christmas meet next week at the usual venue Don?

NVU seems to do standards compliant code as well, it's also WYSIWIG to a large degree which makes it simpler to do your page layout; basically it's what happened to the old Nutscrape Composer thing... they forked it when it all went Mozilla and gave it one major overhaul. It's also free

It is possible to get quite adequete results very quickly with FrontPage. That's probably about its only saving grace, but if that is all you want then it will deliver those results.
