Fancy comming out to play and give Iain a run for his money. As the superior TVR there really should be a few more of them racing hehe

and this looks like an ideal place to start

No offence, but IMNHO it's *way* too much money (hence the "0 bids" on eBay). You can buy a road-going one for that sum and modifications for racing detract from the value, not add to it; you never, ever, get back anything remotely like what you spend.

Trust me, to prep one to be even vaguely competitive on track all in you're looking at double what is being asked.

Seeing as slower Tasmins have sold for around £5k in the closed season its not that bad a job.

you could probably buy a road going one for that sum but you've then got to spend a heck of a lot of time effort and money to prep it, so it looks like good value to me. Its very easy to underestimate the costs of converting to a race car. the cage alone will cost you about 1k.

i doubt the seller is getting anything close what it cost back, so your right there not getting their money back...

I've both built a car from scratch and modified a built one, so I've a good handle on the costs I'd say for a ready made racer with a v8 and road legal thats cracking value...

I've got no knowledge of the owner, just thought i'd highlight the car. Race cars dont seem to go very well on ebay at all.

Looks like an almost bargain price to me..

But I suspect my insurance would be the same as the price of the car...

Oh, I know they cost loads of money to do, I've made a very small step in that direction with my Chimaera.

But you never, ever, get that money back. I've probably spent over 6K on mine so far, and it's worth no more now than it was when I started, probably less, so that money's gone, gone, gone.

There's a very small market for TVR racers, and if no-one in that market wants them, they're essentially worthless, because no-one who would otherwise buy a road-going one is going to be interested.

I think you're missing the point that that car is being sold very much at a loss. Granted value is only what someone is prepared to pay, but if I was to sell my Chim racer thats the sort of price I would see as realistic, anything less and it is worth more to me sat in the yard than sold.

Yep its a small market, but that goes for buying and selling.

if you want a race car you either build or buy one built. if you want to race a chim that car represents good value, and if you want one you'll pay that price for it. dropping the price probably wouldnt mean any more buyers than if it was at 10k.

Its the same as my old tasmin, for the price people would offer for it ( still more than a road going car) its not for sale so Im quite happy to keep it
