My new laptop arrived yesterday a dell latitude thingybob with stuff

It comes preinstalled with XP pro, however I might shove vista on..

I'm currently downloading the ultimate version from msdn which if I'm lucky might complete before tomorrow!

Anyone useing it? Is it any good?

Different user interface but not striking. seemed heavier on resources (theres a surprise) but that could just be cause it was a beta version. I think Dell recommend 2gig of ram for vista when you select it. Do you have 2 gig ?

Will be installing it on some old kit at work tomorrow. Have had the beta running before and it didn't really seem sufficiently different to warrant changing, maybe the proper one is better.

do you use one of thse pocket pc type thingys (The kind you can use for sat-nav). The windows ones don't really work at the moment, but apart from that vistas fine. - providing you've got enough ram.

Old server, so 6gb. Runs clunkily on a 3gb vmware image.

vmware doesn't provide Dx9 graphics though so it's never gonna feel that snappy, i guess there aren't vmtools for vista yet too? Was that with rtm code or a previous version?

Minor brain fade at the moment... can't remember what they are called, but a lot of those little applets you can get don't work properly...

you run this in windows to determine what will and wont work if/when you upgrade i know that nero has to be a newer version.
