I just upgraded to IE7 the other day, but I've noticed that my animated smileys and other animated GIFs have stopped working on some websites (e.g. CCCUK), but work fine on here! bounce The IE advanced option (play animations) is ticked so it isnt that. Any ideas??

Problem in IE7's gif rendering engine?

Must admit IE7 got foisted on my today as a priority update, drove me up the wall with its cack although, surprise surprise, Windows Update was much faster in IE7. I'll play around with my collection of anigifs see if anything crops up.

I've just done a clean install of Vista and IE7, and if I go to www.corvetteclub.org.uk I get animated smilies on the front page. Is that the cccuk you mean?

Not gone too far into the site, but the front page is correctly showing the readit and scratchchin smilies, so perhaps we've not discovered a flaw in the IE7 GIF rendering engine...

Are you running any third party security products, or even advanced/custom security settings in IE?

They could be holding a list of trusted sites and blocking active content otherwise.

Probably something to do with active content and/or caching.

Here's another though - zoom. Dead easy in IE7, it's down there on the status back. Click on 100% and it cycles 100-125-150. Loverly, but it breaks most sites. Try it on this page, the animated gifs end up bouncing on top of the text.
