Not TOO much I suspect, bit more power for the HC, supposedly a bit more like a 450 so I've read on here.

High lift cam, gives more torque at high revs, allegedly +35 BHP or so but my guess is 10-15 more realistic. No idea how many/when made but I suspect the Griff/Chim bible has the answer.

4.0HC was made between 94 and late 96, I believe.
I think it replaced the 4.3.

Mines a '94 4.3, so certainly not a 'replacement' for the 4.0HC. In fact I can't figure out why TVR would bother with (on paper at least):

standard 4.0, 240bhp
HC 4.0, 275bhp(?)
4.3, 285bhp

Surely the 4.3 makes any higher tune variants of the 4.0 redundant / pointless?
Anyway, the 4.3 is the next best engine after the 5 because it has the nicest characteristics (and is quicker than the 4.5!).

From having a 4.5 being driven pedal thoroughly down and my car edging away in a straight line. Simple really.

I've got a 98 HC, so my docs tell me.

I've also had it on a rollin road and have the printout somewhere... I'll find it scan it and get a link posted... if anyones really interested.

Like to hear if anyones 4.0 HC has got 275bhp! don't think mine had that... but a nice curve..

I have a '93 4.3 which Mark Adams is going to look at tomorrow.

I will post the results of our "session" at the rollers at Mech Repairs in Cheltenham. That is if the car doesn't stick itself in gear like it did last time I tried to take it to see him.....

Tell your friend with the 4.5 I can recommend a good mechanic, it needs a good tune up!!!!

Anybody know how much extra it was new to have HC upgrade or the 4.3 engine. They seem to have been available at the same time for a period.

The 4.3 was £2700 more than the 4.0L . this was for the engine work only .
