some may know this car and the owner, it ran a few months ago at the Santapod Mopar Nats 7.87@170 mph with a Hemi V8

Chris Orthodoxou, a great guy.
Can't comment about the top 2 photos, but the last one
was taken by myself at the Flame & Thunder when I was fortunate
enough to have media access.
Not sure about him in running in Pro-Mod though.

Peter,

Lovely to have you on-board... I've loved your photography throughout the season, you've caught some lovely shots of our car, and some good friends at one of the Test & Tunes @ shakey..

All the best,

Thanks Slinky, it's good to know that racers look at my site.
After spectating since 1972, I feel at last that I may have
contributed to the sport I love, in a small way.

If I had been planning to build a Pro Mod, I would go the blown alky route from the start, as the rules in Europe favour this combination. Be great to see the car in P/M though, but its a BIIIIIGGGGG step from 7.8 to 6.1 seconds, lol

Yes but watching nitrous vs blown is (was ??)one of the great joys of Pro-Mod.
So who else in UK will upgrade to PM in 2007 ?

Ian Hansen, George Chiarella, Wayne Nicholson.....

not sure about Ian Hanson, it was only just built around the killer small block, last I knew George Chiarella was going pro mod once he had sold his small block - haven't heard anything for awhile, Wayne Neicholson's car was built to pro mod spec but I think the plan was to stay Super Pro for a season or so

if I remember correctlty Chris' Viper is a 604ci Hemi N/A, so either bore/stroke to 706-740 and add nitrous (nitrous Hemi.........not many around) or a different combo and blown

There's another ProMod coming out - Kev Slyfield with his new blown Willys coupe. Still a lot to do but we should see it during 07.

This pic throws into sharp relief how far away Chris's car is from Pro Mod spec. The body shape it too near stock, and the back end would need serious work to accomodate TM/FC / Beadlock tyre setup.

Compare with Joe Delahaie's (less attractive by far) pro mod car

Its a Damn fine looking car, but it 'aint a pro mod (yet!)

The Viper was built to comply with pro mod spec rules. Not necessarily to be run in pro mod.
Obviously at the moment, it does not have a viable pro mod drive train.
It was also built to still look as-near-as poss to a stock Viper & the rear end needs NO body mods to accommodate beadlocks and larger slicks.
