Is there a significant difference between a black cam\tappet cover and a red one
apart form the colour?

I may be wrong, but black is 3.6 and red 4.0. Should be no Sags with black, but knowing TVR who knows?

Some of the early sags had non red top engines.
I suspect that all or most of the first demo cars didn't.Tms original demo was alloy colour, yellow peril also.
Having read this post I think I should get out more!

Presume you are referring to the Orancio Orange TMS demonstrator - currently mine. Engine same as my first, which was the Peninsula demonstrator - plain alloy top.

Thanks noddy
Mine is one of the original demo from Dream machines. Alloy coloured top cam cover.
Was curious why some sagaris had red. Obviously ran out of silver ones!!!

Any colour you want - just ask My better half has a 4.0 Tam from the factory with a black cam cover.

Early Sag cam covers were alloy coloured, as were the covers on most S6 engined cars made before March 05. The 406 bhp Sags were also red after March 05

If anyones considering stipping and machine polishing - forget it. It won't polish to a mirror finish - just a differnt grey.
