I'm about to loose my garage space and have no where to keep the car apart from my drive.
The car is a second car only and used at weekends. Have any of you kept your Chimeara out in the elements long term? At present the car is 12 miles away from home so doesn't get started and run very much. If at home i would proberly take it out much more.
Any thoughts please. What about the half covers that are advertised on the leven site, has anyone any experience with these?

Ours stayed outside for almost 4 years before we bought a house with a garage. No real problems at all with it, stayed mostly dry inside with the exception of the odd massive downpour.

Now it is in a garage I don't suppose I need my Leven hood cover any more scratchchin

I store mine outside, use a cover from here with lock www.classicadditions.co.uk/ totally bone dry and lets the car breath.

All three of my TVR's have spent a large time outside...all without covers and without problems. IMHO a cover is likely to cause damage / scratches, and a bit of TLC will soon make any modern TVR leak-proof.

The Leven hood cover is great - does the job and won't blow off. They do come up now and again in PH classifieds and on ebay - should be able to get one for 60 pounds or so.

I had one of those. It worked fine for about 18 months, but then fell to bits. The outer waterproof layer perished.

I replaced it with one of these www.hamiltonclassic.co.uk/ProductInformation/CarCoversOutdoorMoltex.htm and guess what? It lasted about 18 months as well.

They work fine when they are new, but don't last all that long.

Mine have all been kept outside all year round - 98 Chimaera 400, 96 Cerbera and 99 Chim 450.

Cerbera was easy and water tight, the others needed a little TLC to ensure they didn't leak, and regular washes to get the paw prints and bird poo off, but otherwise are none the worse for it. Plus it means I get to look out onto the drive and stare at them whenever I want!

Only advantage here is we're tucked away behind electric gates with parking for 8 cars, so plenty of space and security to go with it, though I know of others who keep theirs on the street 24/7.

I leave mine outside, sans cover. It has stayed dry even with the horizontal rain we regularly get on the coast!

Mine lives outside under a cover and it's fine. Must admit it benefits from being used very regularly which tvr's seem to prefer.

I need one too!

Going to kick Trev out of the garage next year as I'll be needing the space for something else.

No no no, Mark... not another car I'm afraid - heaven forbid, there simply isn't room for one, although I did offer to take care of Big Al's Tuscan while he's away! I could just picture it nestled alongside Trev while I lavished my TLC.
