What a shame...poor things

Befordshire and Luton Scamerati start to sweat

And, as a footnote, the obligatory BRAKE consultation....

Rachel Burr from road safety campaigning group Brake said: “Speed kills and speed cameras have been proven to save lives by reducing crashes and casualties.

“Moves to reduce the number of speed cameras are a step in the wrong direction – we need to up enforcement of traffic laws and toughen up on lawbreakers if we are to reduce daily carnage on the roads"

They still don't get it, do they?

And, no, Rachel...there are no moves to reduce speed cameras, just a cut in the lush lifestyle at Scamerati Towers...

Makes you feel warm all over, doesn't it..?

I hope they spend Christmas worrying about losing their homes and how they will provide for their kids.

Instead of a direct grant to the police, the Government will pay the money for safety schemes direct to local councils – in this case Bedfordshire County Council and Luton Borough Council.

hmmm
and Northants council is shedding jobs like mad at the moment

wonder how far down the pecking order some arsehole in a van might find himself

How can it be that £40k is 1/4 of its budget? Surely a partnership covering 3 counties is raking in more than £160k from fines a year?

I wouldnt wish losing their job on anyone to be honest, scamera van operators or not, on an individual level.
I would just like to see a reasonable policy on speed, along with all the other factors that contribute to road deaths

We can only hope that should they lose their jobs, any prospective future employer will be someone who has fallen victim to these vultures and treat them accordingly.

Steady on guys!
Lets at least try and draw a distinction between the people in the vans and the policies and decisions that put them there.
Im sure most of the civilian operators are doing the job as it was something that was offered to them when they were looking for work rather than the fulfilment of a childhood dream - how many of you are doing a job you wsanted to do, as opposed to something you fell into. Not me.

Im not saying that I support the use of camera vans as they are deployed today - anything but - but personally I draw a distinction between the people manning the vans and the beaurocracy / policies that put them there.

And to prempt any comments, the nazi concentration camp guard argument doesnt work here - different league!

It's much easier to avoid joining a scumera partnership than it was to get co-opted into the Stasi, so there is less need for sympathy.

...none at all really.

Hope they get boils too.

Nu Labia's lackeys, minions and functionaries should have learnt by now. This government is hopelessly incompetent. Their policy making is ideologically hidebound, implementation is an exercise in random walking, the only map is focus group opinion. If the propaganda fails and the 'message' stops working, Nu Labia will take legs off at the knee to protect their own sorry ass and cling on in there.

Police shoot a terrorist suspect - oops not a terrorist. Police matter, police incompetence, not Nu Labia scaremongering and pressure cooking. Tame lackey & lickspittle Stern writes Gordon Brown a tax raising sexed up eco-dossier to be proud of, but it's full of bull5h1t junk science from global warming pinkos incorporated, and the backlash against it means Gordy is reluctant to raise duty on flights, then when he does so by the minimum amount possible the next backlash is so big and unexpected that Stern is dropped unceremoniously from the Treasury.

Scammers...everyone know they're a bunch of turkeys anyway, and Christmas may not be in December for them this year.

Eh?! so you apply for a job as a parasite, pass the interview and get the gig, remind me again, who forced them into the back of a van with a camera?

Don't forget, organisations like Brake and our government spouting crap like:

"speed cameras have been proven to save lives by reducing crashes and casualties [at camera sites]"

will lure many who have never heard or considered the argument of why the above statement is invalid, therefore these people are simply misguided. I believe many of these people who join think they are doing the right thing by society, it is up to us to spread the word to ensure everyone knows and understands the propaganda. Hopefully this will also make our government a bit more accountable for their shameful policies.

No sympathy here, gullible or greedy it's the same outcome. Road safety suffers. Drivers are vilified by officialdom in nu labialand, purely for being in a car. Sauce for the goose is about the size of it.

People who volunteer for community speedwatch nonsense or sit in the back of these vans - for whatever reason - help to sustain a morally bankrupt and failing policy and are part of the problem. 'Just following orders' has never been an acceptable defence.

Reminded of the occasion
it first became newsworthy in the midlands,
and just such a F-T was interviewed proudly standing beside
shiny new transit,

interviewer;
'So
are you looking forward to catching lots of speeding motorists in the future'

F-T
'Yes I see my role a part of the safety team making the roads locally a safer place, I personally dont have a problem catching anyone speeding'

[sighing] 'they grow up so damn fast don't they [/sighing]
