In a lot of the shots it appears like they haven't correctly set up gamma adjustment and such; more than one also smells of 4:3 stretched on a 16:9 / 16:10 display. A few also feel like well... like playing Halo on a PC; it just wasn't designed for that format so has 'issues', I'd suspect given more time to optimise their engines for the Cell processor the results would have been even closer.
That being said, I can't tell the difference between a lot of those screen shots, some look better to my eyes on the PS3. *shrug*

I prefer the mouse over image, that's the PS3 one isn't it?
Yeah there are a few of the PS3 images i liked the look of aswell over the 360, but
the difference will be negligible in real world terms though.
Either way, it shows off the power of the PS3 so i dare say things will improve a wee bit as time
goes on.I would imagine developers have had quite a while longer to play around with the 360 compared
to the PS3.
Both are great machines to me, i will probably pick up a PS3 if it has some exclusive titles at a later date no doubt.I dare say many gamers feel just the same.
I believe GT5 has now been delayed until 2008 or something stupid, with just a cut-down Prologue-type version being released sooner - how crap is that??? Prologue was the biggest pile of shite I've ever bought, and the new one will just be GT4 with hi-res graphics (and lo-res textures by the looks of the screenshots).
Personally, if somebody would just make a GT-alike for the PC I would see no reason for ever buying a console over a PC again - the PC does everything better, faster, with better graphics, better controls (ie. a you can use a mouse for a FPS rather than a stupid joypad) and better sound. Given the insane price of PS3, even that advantage over the PC has now been massively reduced - hmmm, upgrade my PC for around £400, or buy a f*****g expensive PS3 that can never be upgraded for £700? Not a difficult choice....
The only good point about my PS2 was that it plugged into a great big telly rather than a (relatively) small monitor, but now all PC videocards have TV-out anyway.

If you are a gamer, you miss out on lots by not enjoying consoles, it's that simple.
All this "pc is better/consoles are better" rubbish should have died out years ago
but sadly it hasn't.
The "spend 400 on a pc" argument is flawed too because it assumes everyone can just buy a £400 graphics card and plug it into any pc.To make that argument relevant here the PC in question would have to be free!
So yes, £400 will just about buy you the best (non SLI) graphics card you can get, but it is only any good if you have a bloody expensive machine to plug it into.
I know people with the latest greatest PC's you can buy and they absolutely love the gaming experiences in all departments you can have on the 360 for example.
Gears of war made an SLI owning friend suggest there was "no way his machine could run that".
That may or may not be true, but the fact is he was blown away enough to buy a 360 and forget poncing about with resolutions and options and just enjoy it on a console.
Things have come a long way.
These entertainment machines can offer up stunning gaming experiences
to those prepared to accept them.If only some people were prepared to remove the blinkers and drop the "fan boy" approach, they would be enjoying them too.

It'll probably fly off the shelves if they manage to have produced a console that doesn't continually over heat, lock up, crash, require returning for replacement.
Mmm..Well I have a launch 360 and hand on heart I can say it has never :
1) Over heated
2) Locked up
3) Required returning for replacement
Correct me if I'm wrong here but in the Gamespot article they talk of the 360 having better lighting effects.
I was under the impression that the 360's GPU was a more advanced piece than the PS3's. The PS3's been based on the last generation Nvidea cards but they don't mention this.
If this is so then any advanced lighting that the PS3 needs to do will have to be done in software or left out. This in turn would effect the quality of the image or if left in the frame rate I would have thought ?

Yet... (not wanting to jinx yours
) I know a large number of people that have had issues, probably more than 50% who have had at least one replacement. Has put me off buying one at least until the cost reduced version comes out that will allegedly run cooler and even then I'll wait and see how the early takers get on.
It's been far too 'rushed to market' for my liking

That is always going to be the case. 2nd gen 360 games may look like 1st gen PS3 games but so will 3rd gen 360 look like 2nd gen PS3 games. The PS3 "might" be better when comparing them at the same time in their life but the 360 is a known quantity to the software houses. The PS3 may be more powerful but I think that the extra time that the 360 has been out and has been developed for may negate any power advantage. Would have probably been different if they were released at the same time.
I think the PS3 gfx chip is everso slightly faster, but the xbox has more bandwidth available to a larger amount of dedicated memory.
To non computer types, what this boils down to: Think of it in terms of Dual carriageways(PS3) vs. motorways(360). In an ideal world, you could drive at similar speeds on both, but the motorway has greater capacity, hence achieving more throughput.

I love games regardless of the format. If something has impressed me I will buy it. I keep a keen eye on latest developments and usually pre-order and get the new console straight away (geek). Saying that I have always been into PCs and will try and keep mine up to date every year or so, but to be frank since HL2 nothing has really impressed me – I am looking forward to Crysis but that was because Far Cry was such a nice surprise. But as has been said, PCs are a different beast and if you truly love gaming you will never ignore consoles for their many strengths.
If a console comes out I will usually buy it, try it, keep it if I like it or sell it if I don't. I got the XBox 360 on launch and was not massively impressed. FPS controls infuriate me with a controller (I am a kb and mouse monkey) and PGR was fun but lack that certain something. It was ready to be packed up and sent on its merry ebay way until Oblivion came out and I was sold. Since then the 360 has continued to impress me with spectacular graphics and sound, some really neat games and the wonderful online support (and by that I don’t simply mean multiplayer, I also mean downloadable content and media). I love Test Drive, GOW, Dead Rising and Oblivion continues to eat into hours of my life.
The same cannot be said for the PSP. Great handheld but poor games. It was sold very quickly and I was not impressed.
I have also had my Wii for nearly a week and I absolutely love it mainly because the girlfriend loves it too. Ninity have really created something wonderful there and good on them; powerful graphics, though sexy, are not the be all and end all of games; the Wiimotes are a work of genius. Not only does this put games in the hands of women, older people and ‘party gamers’ but it may also get my flabby ass losing some weight while having lounge based fun – a few rounds of the boxing and I am sweating like a fat man in Amsterdam. I just hope they can create some great and varied games that take full advantage of its unique capabilities.
But the PS3. Now this is a hard one. I have had one pre-ordered for months now but I am sorely tempted to cancel it. £500 for something that is not much better (if at all) than a 360 with no real killer apps on the horizon. When it was first announced I was more excited about this than anything before it (anyone else remember the Killzone vid?) and I bought a 360 as a stopgap between nothing and this being released but now I think I have made the right choice albeit accidentally. So many reports say it is a bitch to code for and that ports will be the preferred method rather than original games. Things like GT do focus my attention but Test Drive is good enough and is only going to get better as they release more content. GT is certainly not going to be enough to justify a full £500 investment. I suppose I have till March to make up my mind.

Poor sony, flogging a dead horse!!
They are not going to be in the market proper till this time next year, And I really think that is going to be two late.
Wiii will win, 360 will be right up there, PS3 will fill the shelves of Sony Centres!!

They will fly off the shelves if Gran Tourismo 5 is a PS3 exclusive.
Forza is better than GT. For a start the cars actually get damaged.

I think they both run at the same clock speed (500mhz iirc) - but the ati chip on the 360 is much better optimised.
I used to be firmly in the PC is better camp - but now the only advantage that the PC has is better controls in FPS games, and slightly higher resolutions, but on much smaller screens.
I think like for like skill wise, a mouse/keyboard player would easily beat a joypad player. Other than that, the 360 really has raised the bar for consoles. Mainly because it's basically a PC!
That being said, I don't get the cost argument - yes a 360 is cheaper but it can't do anything except play games - a PC does so many more tasks.
