Ultima for British GTs

Aaron Scott and Steven Brady to compete in 2003

Surrey racer Aaron Scott is set to graduate to the British GT Championship driving an Ultima GTR alongside team mate Steven Brady, in the GTO class.

Scott's CV to date includes championship titles in Karting and Formula Ford as well as a season competing in the British Formula 3.  Most recently he has raced in the Renault Clio Cup, and having had his first taste of endurance racing in a Porsche in the end of season Bill Taylor Memorial race at Silverstone last year, he is now looking forward to a challenging season in the GT's.

"I'm delighted to be driving the Ultima, I think we will surprise a few
people this year. We look forward to being front-runners this year and can't wait for the Championship to get underway. The British GT Championship looks very exciting this season with so many magnificent sports cars on the grid. I'm delighted to be a part of the action ," commented Aaron.

The Ultima was beginning to look very promising towards the end of last year, so hopefully with the step down to GTO they should have a lot of success!

Been to see the car with domster a couple of times in various states. Will look much better this year with a GTR body but with some changes around the side vents. The car looks like it will be totally flat bottomed with an enclosed lower engine bay and a large rear difuser.

As bluesatin says, the team are putting a lot of work into the car for this season to build on the experience of last year. The 100kg reduction they make by switching to GTO should see the car fly!

Does somebody knows what happens with Colin Blower´s GTR. I can´t see his team at the entry list.

Colin Blower is not entering this year as far as I am aware, so the Master Motorsport entry will be the only Ultima entry. I dont think the Blower car would be eligible to be converted to GTO spec and hence the withdrawal. The team should be testing on Thursday at Donnington ahead of the first round this weekend.

Well i had the pleasure of attending the F3 & GT's at Snetterton over the weekend along with about 10 other brave people who were camping. The Racing was quality especially with the Mosler at the Back fighting its way through. As for the Ultima it more than stood its own in battling with the TVR. (Shane Lynch was on a mission) Sitting in what looked a comfy 3rd it unfortunatly let go and with that so did my interest in the racing. Well worth going to the racing this year although the field is a bit sparse.

The post race press release...

Surrey race ace Aaron Scott (www.aaronscott.co.uk) and his Master Motorsport team mate Steven Brady were at Snetterton for Round 2 of the British GT Championship this weekend. For Aaron this marked his first run in the Ultima after his previous dramas at Donnington in Round 1.

Despite enduring gearbox and engine problems during the pre race test and free practice session, which restricted the number of laps that they could put in, Steven qualified the Omnico backed car in 6th place ready for Sundays race.

Further improvements were made overnight in time for race day, which saw the car 3rd fastest in the morning warm up session, with Aaron at the wheel.
The car going even quicker than in qualifying on full tanks, as the team continued to improve the set up of the Ultima.

Steven started the race and drove expertly over the opening laps to move into 3rd position. Unfortunately just as Steven approached the 1-hour mark and was about to hand the car over to Aaron, a gearbox failure put the car out of the race, costing the team a certain podium position.

Aaron said, "We have shown the potential of the car and there is more to come, now we have some laps under our belt we can work hard on set ups and I'm sure we will be consistently in the hunt for podiums over the rest of the season. The team have done a superb job and we all look forward to the next race at Knockhill in 3 weeks time."

Don't worry, it's not a G50.

It is some fancy straight cut remortgage-the-wife effort. I have seen the car and know the guys at the team a liitle. Nice chaps with a very developed car.
