How long does the clutch last?

I'm just curious about this one to see if there is a regular failure time or if it is completely random.

going back through the paperwork that is fairly cpmplete for my 96 4.2.The first cluth lasted 5 years and 26000 miles. assuming the current clutch was put in then this has lasted 5 years and 14000 miles and counting....

....however the car HAS gone through 3 slave cylinders and two master cylinders. Last slave just done used the uprated version - whatever that may be -, the current clutch was inspected and was pronounced OK.

dunno why but the forums make me shyt myself about holding on the clutch at all.

Original clutch changed at 24k.

My clutch lasted about 52k before I changed it.

It hadn't actually failed at this point, but I was having some other work done and it seemed sensible/cost effective to have the clutch changed at the same time.

I just remember this as a rough average figure that fitted the previous my clutch has died threads I found here. Individual results may vary.

Mine had done about 35 k miles when the slave cylinder went last year. I had a new clutch put in as mine was about half worn, so I now have it as a spare.

Mine went at about 25k well the slave did so changed the clutch at the same time also the fingers went as well.
