Hi guys,

Check out this guy driving an F40 properly for once...

www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEcK6ndtYJU

I can't imagine what it feels like to drive. Maybe one day I will. Does anyone have any driving experiences on/off track that you'd like to share?

Cheers

There's loads of Ferrari F40 videos on YouTube. Just search 'Ferrari F40' or 'F40'.

I'd love to get hold of the full video of the Japanese bloke doing 199mph in his F40 on the motorway. Never been able to find a copy.

Yeah, that's the one. The full thing was sold as a VHS video by Toru Kirikae, the then president of the Japanese Ferrari Owners' Club. It shows him doing 199mph on the Ibirachi Highway in Japan. The police caught up with him and used the video to convict him. I'd love to get my hand on that video as I'm sure it's amazing to watch and I want to know what else is on it, but I can't trace it for love nor money.

I've driven one. The steering is very heavy, the clutch is a bastard, the gearshift is quite agricultural and not particularly nice, the offset pedals are a nightmare and rear visibility is a joke.

Other than that, it was ing FANTASTIC! Even on a busy M60 nearing rush hour.

Hope that helps.

Here's a pic.

This is not the first time that I have heard this type of report and conclude that although an icon of a super car, for the most part it is a better thing to lust after/ dream about driving than actually driving as a pleasurable experience. I prefer to dream than do because ultimately disappointment is often the outcome. Having said that, I would have a drive in an F40 if I really really HAD to.

Apparently he just decided - after 8 years enough was enough. He's had some bloody fun in that car - you should see his poster collection.

It seems despite the fact in his twilight years he is waning on the old petrolhead front, those central grille exhausts seem to do it for him.....I tried talking him into a 997 GT3. rolleyes
