Throttle pots

Is it normal for them to last about 1000 miles?

I am having to replace mine again. Is anyone aware of whether there is a better quality alternative that could be used?

Fancy posting a trace of them to see what goes wrong with em.

Its cos its only a potentiometer inside, and not much to go wrong.

I have put an order in for 2 new ones. Will take them apart and post pics once the new ones are in.

Why are the blue insert ones an extra 10 quid? I wonder if they would last a bit longer!

James, the blues are for the 4.5, they rotate in the opposite direction.

I've had both of mine replaced recently as the ECU suggested - sluggish drop off revs and lumpy mid range revving were my symptoms. However the fault has now been traced to a throttle return spring - not the external linkage return spring but a small spring that sits on the end of the throttle rod that ensures the butterfly valves close. The other ned of the rod feeds the throttle pots. Fernies are having a mare trying to source a replacement spring, though. I may have to end up getting one made.

Why does it need two? Yes I know there's two banks of cylinders but the ECU can't send different amounts of fuel to each bank so why not just have one TP and just ensure the linkage between the two banks is properly adjusted?
