Naming and shaming

If naming and shaming is banned how does one cope with blatent self promotion on forums by a firm who, in the guise of offering advice, slip in a mobile number or a plug for their business? They aren't paying for the advertising and no one is allowed to mention they may be a bad egg.

In the case of one individual I'm tempted to reply with a "don't touch this guy with a barge pole", but cannot.

Advice please.

If it's unapproved (forum) advertising, use the "report abuse" button to bring it to the attension of a mod. Otherwise... mail Ted directly.

Got it one, as Podie says.

Had to bite my tongue of a couple of occasions, but it would have been only my side of the story so the rule applies to all, moderators included!

I would say though, if you had a used car warranty and your clutch goes, and you get it done at a TVR workshop of your choice, and the warranty-company declines paying the cost because they themselves wanted to choose the workshop to get this done, and their right to do this is written in their T&C, then you would be allowed to post about this and name the company, because you don't shame them with the facts they wrote down themselves. Bodo in long sentence shocker!

The only disappointment you had would be that you haven't read their T&C properly and your report would encourage other to look closer on this and other companies' T&C. Innit?
