Hi ,

just took ownership of a TVR Chimaera ( N reg ) yesterday .

driving along around 10 miles per hour , heavy traffic , car came to a halt
, engine lost power when i tried to accelerate , run for around 10 seconds .
Car could not be started. Engine turns but will not fire up.... When
ignition was turned on , i could not hear the fuel pump & i could not smell
fuel ( ie no matter how many times i pressed the accelerator i was not aware of smelling petrol .. Could this be a fuel pump failure . 100 amp fuse under the car ( around engine sump )could this cause the car not to start

Assuming that the other electrical items work it could be the relay for the pump. Located on the bit of the loom that sits on top of the battery(which is behind the pull out carpeted panel at the front of the passenger footwell. I believe that if you swop the two relays over and it starts this will prove its the relay. no doubt someone will come along shortly with more experience of this commom problem.
If the other electrical bits don't work then the 100 amp fuse may well be the culprit

have you had a look at the fuel pump fuse. It is onre of the lose ones in the passenger footwell (as in not on the acutal fuse box) there are two lose fuses on cables dangling around with the fuel pump and ecu relays. Check that first...oh and disconnect the fuel pump relay and then reconnect it...it might be very slightly loose!

Sounds like either the fuel pump fuse or relay. Always worth carrying some spare. Unfortunatly this is one of the common problems.

Exactly the same problem with my v8s....turned out to be the bosch fuel pump relay, it was the one with a red diagonal stripe...not sure where it was situated though. boxedin
