Question? How much additional bhp can you expect from a sports. Or is it purely noise?

Reason is that although i currently have a sports exhaust and like my neighbours I do have to use the car at 03:30am on a Monday morning.. Have just been reading the thread on the TVR General Gassing forum and made me think what additional bhp does the sports exhaust give? Or is it once noise?

p.s. Have no plans to change the exhaust, just curious

Probably zero, and may even decrease the power.

The standard exhaust is very good, just not noisy enough for some of you.

I stand corrected - no difference in back pressure then- but you will find the car goes much much faster as your ears command you to do so

Edited to add: we have had a sports exhaust for a few months now. The biggest regret of cerbera ownership - should have got it sooner, absolutely superb.

There is no more back pressure on a reasonable sports exhaust - most of them have straight through silencers. Factory claim to have seen reduced mid range torque with some of the early ones.

Certainly from the rolling road numbers, doesn't appear to make any significant difference.

BCA - how much did it cost you and what did you get? Is it actually louder, in terms of decibels, or has just the note changed?

I thought it would have less back pressure becaus its straight through. Wouldnt this cause lower BHP at low rev's and a slight increase at hight rev's?

The sheer weight of the standard exhaust must mean a better power to weight ratio therefore hopefully increased performance.
Also, the sports pipes are tucked away closer to the chassis so fewer "scrapes" etc. As for the noise mine make.......well there just is no substitute

Ours is a JP "quiet" sports exhaust I think (quiet - pah!) Talk to joolz for more information, there are other options, but we needed ours to be pretty quiet. In the end it turned out nice and loud with a different tone (read as: better tone). Makes the standard car sound quiet and dull in comparison IMHO.

Not sure how loud it is now, but its loud enough to make people slow down and back off from behind/ make people dive out of the way infront and generally setting alarms off at a good distance

** the back pressure is increased though with a sports exhaust and a decat IIRC - sorry for the mis-information.

I have had mine de-catted and sports pipes fitted. On song it makes your ears bleed small children cry car alarms go off and sounds like a world war two tommy gun on the over run .
To sum up absolutely fantastic, I don't use it every day be deaf within a fortnight
